Vivian sat up in their bed, blanket wrapped around her head and most of her body. She yawned loudly, natural drooping ears flicking. Patterson crawled from under the blanket, yawning as well. She rubbed her eyes and picked up the sleeping Patterson. Slowly, she slipped out of the blanket. She stood, holding Patterson close. She rolled up the long sleeves of the stolen shirt. Going over to the nightstand, she picked up her glasses with her free hand. Slipping them on, she walked out, opening the door.
Patterson quickly woke up, nose twitching. “Bacon!” he barked. “EEEEGGGSSS!” The little Zorua jumped out of her arms. She laughed and sat down in front of Emyr. “Mornin’ love!” She exclaimed, glancing down. She beamed. Pancake rolled hot dogs?! “A special breakfast for my special someone,” Emyr stated while smiling warmly. Vivian stuck her tongue. “My food!” She chimed and snatched one. Emyr laughed. Vivian about ate the whole thing in one bite but looked at Kukui’s cousin. She had her back turned, cooking. “Did..did Emyr tell you my favorite food?” She asked. Nina nodded. “Yup!” she cheerfully exclaimed. “He told me how you begged a butler at your home to make.” Vivian blushed. Oh, poor Jakob. He dealt with her a lot. Emyr sat two poke balls onto the ground. They burst open, revealing Flint and the newly acquired Annie. “Good morning, you two.” Emyr greeted. “Where’s Howl?” Vivian asked, and a loud chirp. She looked up, seeing the window was open. The little green bird appeared, chirping happily.
Emyr instantly got up to go back into another room. Vivian bounced in her seat. Someone was calling! She giggled happily as Howl landed on the table near her, and turned to watch Emyr bring out a thin screen. “Give it here!” She exclaimed. “Give it here!” She reached out as Emyr handed her the screen. He picked up Annie, and the little sea lion patted his nose. Emyr watched as Vivian slid her finger across the screen, type in a few numbers. Nate appeared on the screen! “Big Bro!” Vivian squealed. Nate held up one finger and slipped on a headset.
“Can you two hear me just fine?”
Emyr nodded. “Loud and clear.” He responded. Vivian blinked as soon as Howl had jumped from the table to sit on her lap. Nate leaned forward. “I-Is that the starter?!” He exclaimed in surprise. “I-I’ve never seen this type before…” Vivian bobbed her head and looked up at Emyr. He leaned down, Annie's head only shown. “A-A sea lion?!” He seemed so surprised by the new types of Pokemon. “It’s so cool here!” Vivian chattered. “It’s so...sandy!” Emyr ruffled her already messy hair. “It’s a very hot place,” Emyr stated. “I’m surprised V hasn’t melted yet.” She looked up at him, a sour look crossing her face.
Vivian looked back at the screen, eyes narrowing. Nate’s eyes looked around, then looked back. “Tell me, what have you been doing?” He asked carefully. “Weeeelll…” Vivian replied cautiously. “We tried to find the Kahuna..and then we met this girl!” She smiled. Her ears twitched as she heard dripping. “Her name was Lillie,” Emyr said. “She had this…” He held his hands together, trying to signify how big Nebby was.
Vivian’s ears drooped more and gasped as she saw her mother, hanging from the ceiling. Her eyes, milky white, as black tar dripped from her smiling mouth. “B-Brother!” She exclaimed. Nate reached for the screen. “I’ll call you later! Love to know you met some new people!”
Vivian leaned back in her chair and ran her hand through her messy hair. “Mama's still like that?” She asked quietly. “What was that?” She looked up at Emyr, whose face was shadowed. “Don’t you remember what Lady Light said? She...was supposed...to you know.” He stated. Vivian frowned. “I thought she would be better…!” She whined. “She needs food, V.” Emyr stated carefully. “Let’s not worry about them, okay?” She stuck out her tongue. “Okay…” She muttered and pouted as he kissed her head. “It’s going to be alright, they’re going to be okay.” He stated. She huffed and set the screen down. Looking up, she realized that Lily had left the room since it was more of a private matter. “I hope you’re right.” Vivian stated. Emyr looked over to the door as soon as the doorbell went off. Emyr held Annie as he went to the door.
Vivian turned to the table, sighing. “Are you okay?” Howl hooted. “Yeah, I’m okay.” She sighed. “Just worried.” She rubbed her face and sneezed loudly. Looking behind her, she saw Emyr and Lillie talking. She grinned. Scooting the chair back, she got up and trotted over to the door. “Good morning, Lillie-san!” Vivian greeted. “G-good morning to you, V-Vivian.” Lillie responded quickly. “So, a-are you going to swing by?” Vivian cocked her head. “What’s happening?” She asked. “The professor wants us to swing by his place to grab something.” Emyr responded and looked at Lillie. “We’ll come soon, we got to finish breakfast, and then change.” The pale blond girl shook her head. “N-No need.” She responded, and took out 10 red poke balls. “T-these are for y-you two. Y-you can catch more creatures here.” Vivian took them eagerly, but looked up at Lillie. “How do we catch them?” She asked. Lillie pursed her lips. “Y-You know..” she muttered. “A-attack it….o-or…” Vivian shook her head. “I can talk to them.” She chimed. “I don’t wanna attack them.” Lillie seemed surprised. Did she know how to talk to Pokemon? “T-then, I-I’ll see you two at the P-Professors then.” She said, and backed away. Emyr turned to Vivian, and flicked her nose. She held her nose. “How could you!” She shrieked, and pouted. Emyr only laughed. “Let’s get going, and finish breakfast!” He stated and hugged her tightly, in front of the door, pretty visible to people who walk around their house. Vivian buried her face against his chest, and suddenly, wolf ears and tail appeared, wagging happily. “I loooove you~” She cooed. “I’m so glad that I was able to bring you along here.” Emyr rubbed her head affectionately, and turned to the kitchen. “Hey, Bandit’s gonna eat all of the food!” He exclaimed and Vivian huffed. “Let him haaave it.” She stated firmly, but took his hand, as they strolled to the kitchen table. They sat down, began to eat once again, chatting away.
They stepped out the house, dressed up in their clothes. Vivian pushed up her glasses, glancing at Emyr, and then away. She pointed to the far path, near some fences, as palm trees stretched into the skies. “You wanna go there?” He asked, and watched as Bandit and Patterson already zoomed ahead. “Yeah!” Vivian cheered. “Let’s go! This is so cool!” Emyr chuckled, but sighed. Bandit was the worst sometimes! They jogged toward the new path, and immediately, Vivian squealed. Emyr looked out at the path. “It’s...it’s just grass, though.” He stated. “But it’s an adventure!” Vivian squealed happily. She ran into the grass quickly, following the two scampering foxes. Emyr sighed while smiling. What a strange, happy girl. He followed behind, wading through the tall grass. “V!” He called. “Wait for me!” She turned around, and stuck out her tongue playfully. She trotted farther away from him. “We don’t know wha-Vivian look out!”
A small red bird came flying at her head, talons poised for her. She turned, and she dove for the ground. Patterson jumped onto her back, and jumped back fangs glistening. “Stay away from her!” He exclaimed. “Don’t hurt my best friend!” Vivian rolled onto her back, and took out Howl’s ball. She threw it into the air. “Howl!” She called. “Tackle it!” The green bird hooted, and flew at the red bird, tackling it. The bird screeched loudly, and its beak hardened. “I-i’ll help V!” Emyr exclaimed. “Ringabel!” The small sheep looked up, and trotted beside Emyr. “S-sh-” He was so nervous. He didn’t want to hurt the poor bird! “No, Emyr!” Vivian grunted as she clambered to her feet. “Howl, come on! Tackle her!” she exclaimed. Emyr cocked his head. She must’ve heard the bird’s voice! The green bird hit it again, causing it to fall to the ground. Vivian took out an empty ball, and threw it at the bird. The ball hit the small bird, and Emyr watched as it disappeared, landing onto the ground. The ball twitched, as if the bird was trying to escape. It twitched once, and Vivian watched with wide eyes. Twice, Howl landed in front of it, curious. A third time, and it clicked.
Vivian swiped it from the ground, and pressed the button. The bird appeared, settling onto the ground in an annoyed manner. “I am so sorry.” Vivian stated, crouching down to see the bird better. “You better be!” The bird shrieked. “You were just a running through my home, and I want to stop you!” Vivian cocked her head. “You live in the grass?” She questioned. “Don’t birds live in trees?” The red bird fluffed out its feathers, but collapsed instantly. “Grrr!” The bird growled. “You hurt me real bad!” Vivian scooped the bird up and turned to Emyr. “We need to go back home.” She stated. “We need to heal our new friend.” Emyr looked up at her, and nodded. “Let’s go.” He stated and pulled her along. He whistled, and both Ringabel and Patterson scampered behind them.
They arrived back at the house, and Nina jumped. “You two are back here already?” she questioned, and eyed the red bird. “Is that…” The small bird screeched loudly, and in anger. Maybe even in fear. “I-I hurt her.” Vivian said. “Can you help her?” Nina looked up at them. “This bird attacked kids!” she exclaimed. “Are you s-” Emyr frowned as he furrowed his brow. “Please?” he asked. “I didn’t mean too…” Vivian muttered. “Well, ya hurt my wing!” the bird chirped angrily. “Well, you tried to attack me!” Emyr sighed, and rose his hand. Golden mist leaked out, and slithered around the bird. He bit his lip in concentration. The bird started to screech, but stopped, smelling the nice yellow tulip smell. And her wing! It started to feel much better! Nina watched the mist seep into the bird’s wing. She seemed startled. Emyr dissipated the mist, and rose his hands. “Okay…” He started. “Do not be afraid…” The bird ruffled her feathers, and looked at the both of them with a confused look in her eyes. "Why’d you help me?” It chirped. “Because, you’re hurt.” Vivian huffed. “Plus, you’re a new friend. I wanna treat you right.” Vivian reached, and gently stroked the small birds head. The bird seemed a little confused. “Can I name you?” Vivian asked the bird flew up to perch on her shoulder. “Sure?” The bird scoffed. Vivian puffed her cheeks out, thinking. “Delilah.” She said. The bird paused, slowly nudging Vivian’s cheek. “I like it.” Delilah stated.
Nina watched them. She should’ve expected it. These kids were from another world. She smiled small. “Why don’t you two go on and start your journey already?” She cheerfully asked. Vivian and Emyr smiled. They both bowed again, and turned to leave. Nina turned to fix up the kitchen. She shook her head. “Kukui, you never told me these two had powers.” she muttered.
Vivian looked up at the sun. “I think we should head to the Professor’s lab.” Emyr said, and gave a sour look as soon as Bandit and Patterson bolted off. Vivian ran after them, laughing happily. Emyr shook his head, and looked down to see the other creatures. He sighed, and scooped up Ume and Randall. Ringabel waddled after him as he walked ahead. He watched as his girlfriend jumped over a ledge. Emyr’s ears perked, seeing a kid who was tossing a ball up and down in the air, looking around. “V-V wait!” He exclaimed, and ran faster, causing the small sheep behind him to start running. He jumped off the ledge, right into the view of the small kid. “Hey you!” The kid exclaimed. Emyr looked toward him. “Battle me!” Emyr gave a small snort. “No.” Emyr scoffed. “We’ll hurt them.”
The kid rolled his eyes. “You’re a new trainer, aren’t you?” He asked. “When you see a trainer, you're supposed to battle them!” Emyr frowned, and turned to him. He turned his head to look to Vivian, who went to the tall grass. He turned to the kid. “Very well.” He said. The kid tossed a ball. “Peet!” He exclaimed. A white bird with blue stripes flew out of the ball. Ringabel baahed proudly. Emyr looked down at Ringabel, and nodded. The little fluffy sheep waddled forward. She baahed, and her tail sparked. “Okay…” Emyr said. “I’m no battler, and I’m quite surprised that V missed yo-” The bird’s beak sharpened, and he launched toward Ringabel. “Ringabel, fluff out!” Emyr frantically called, and watched as his little sheep fluffed out, and...the bird’s beak sunk into the fluff. It paused, then started to frantically flap its wings. Ringabel’s tail sparked. “This is one battle that I might have to hurt one thing.” emyr sighed. He rose his hand. “Ringabel, shock the bird!” Ringabel baahed proudly, while shocking the bird. The bird flapped frantically, causing Emyr to look away. Then, the bird fell off, flapping into the air. It’s wings glowed. “Wing Attack!” The kid called and watched as his bird dove down, swiping at Ringabel. Somehow, the little lamb had the instinct of jumping away, and dodging.
Emyr wanted to help, but it seemed like he could not interfere with battles himself. It seemed stupid to do that. “Shock the bird again!” He exclaimed. Ringabel pointed the little bulb tail, and launched a small spark. It hit the bird dead on. The bird fell out of the sky with a small thud. Emyr tisked, and scooped the little sheep. “Hey, wait!” The kid exclaimed. He reached into his pockets, and took out a dollar and some coins. “Why do I need this?” Emyr asked. “You’ll need it for stores and food!” The kid chimed. “And what about your little friend?” Emyr retorted. “Don’t worry. I can bring him to the Poke-center to heal him!” He chimed. Emyr sighed, and took the small amount of money. “Thank you.” He said. Ringabel baahed loudly. He looked down at her. “Are you proud, Papa?” She asked. He didn’t understand her. They jumped down the ledges, down to the beach front. He looked up, seeing Vivian talking with Lillie. She turned, seeing him. “Emyr!” Vivian called. “C’mere!”
Emyr walked up to them. “Y-You two are finally here.” Lillie said. “Why are you waiting out here?” Emyr asked. “Lillie said that she was waiting for the Professor to be finished with something.” Vivian chimed. Lillie nodded, and the bag shook. She shushed it. The house suddenly shook, and a cheer echoed forth. Everyone looked up at the house. Vivian blinked.
“....What’s he doing now?”
