They walked away together, Lillie and Hala behind them. Vivian squished Howl, and the bird giggled. “V, don’t do that.” Emyr scolded. “But, he likes being squished.” She cooed cutely. He looked at her, and shook his head, smiling. “Don’t squish too hard, love.” He sighed. He’ll let her do that. Just for a while. The little sea lion gazed up at Emyr, and she yapped.

“What?” He asked, poking her nose. “Are you shy?” The sea lion clapped her hands, laughing. “Looks like she’s not.” Vivian giggled, looking down at the ground. Everyone scampered around them, happily. Emyr looked back at Lillie. “Where did the Professor go?” He asked. She jumped. “W-what?” She stammered. “The Professor!” Vivian giggled. “Where’d he go?” She squeezed the bag strap tightly. “O-Oh,” She stuttered. “H-He...H-He went home. H-he started not feeling well.” Her eyes darted away nervously. Vivian shrugged. “Okay!” She exclaimed, seeing that Lillie was nervous, or, perhaps lying; she decided to drop it. They near the stairs down, and out of the town.

“Hey!” Someone new exclaimed and Emyr looked up, seeing a dark skinned boy run up to them. “Hello! I'm Hau!” He exclaimed. “Are you two the out-realmers?” Vivian bobbed her head. “Aye, we are.” She stated. “I’m Vivian!” She giggled happily. Emyr smiled while Annie stared at him. “I wanna see how you two battle!” He stated, and Emyr’s face immediately soured. “What?” The wolf asked. “Battle?” Hau asked. “You know, Pokemon battle?” Emyr nodded slowly. “I know what that is.” Emyr said. “Don’t you want to battle?” Hau chimed, placing his hands to the side, gaze looking into Emyr’s eyes. “No.” he scoffed. “I think it’s quite wrong to pit these wonderful creatures against each other.” Hau looked at Hala. “Grandpa, is he serious?” He scoffed, and Vivian stepped forward. “He is.” She stated. “But he’ll learn.” she looked back at him, and winked. “If we’re to survive, love, you’ll need to learn to fight.” He rolled his eyes. “We can always try and talk it out.” Annie barked loudly, and patted his nose. “This is how we get to know each other!” Hau exclaimed and threw a red pokeball. Litten came out! Wait, how did he get the cat? They were there to pick starters before him1

Vivian paused, and looked down at Howl. “Do you want to…?” She started, and looked back at Randall and Patterson. The bird flew out of her arms, and landed in front of her. “Okay.” Vivian looked up at him. “Howl! Tackle him!” She exclaimed, and watched as her new pokemon flew up, rushing at the fire cat. “Dia, use scratch!” Hau countered, and the cat jumped up. “Dodge him!” Vivian bellowed, and Howl flew to the side. “Use...use another move!” Vivian suggested, and looked back at Emyr, Hala, and Lillie. They all shrugged. Howl opened his wings, and leaves flew out furiously, hitting cat as it covered its face. “Cool!” Vivian laughed. But, Dia got up, unphased.

“What?” Emyr asked in confusion. “I thought it would’ve been…” Hala chuckled. “You two have much to learn.” He pointed at Dia the Litten. “The type of pokemon Litten is that he is a fire type.” He started to explain. “Rowlet is a grass type. Fire types are super effective against grass types. She needs to be careful.” Emyr frowned.

Vivian raised her hand up. “Howl! Tackle him again!” Vivian exclaimed and the bird shot toward the cat. “Dia! Ember!” Hau exclaimed. The kitten opened his mouth and breathed a small flame. Vivian realized it too late. “No!” She exclaimed as she watched her bird friend get hit. Howl screeched, getting singed. He shook his head, flapping his wings. “Howl, quickly, try to juke him, and then tackle him!” Vivian exclaimed. Howl screeched and flew around Dia, watching as the cat looked around. Dia spun around, watching. “Ember again!” Hau exclaimed. The cat spewed fire, but Howl spun out of the way, and launched himself toward Dia. He tackled Dia to the ground. “Tackle him again!” Howl flapped his wings, propelling himself backwards. He flew toward the cat, and the cat yelped painfully.

“Okay!” Has exclaimed frantically. “That’s enough!” He looked panicked. “For a first timer, you sure are good!” Vivian stopped, and stared. “I-I’m sorry.” she muttered and Howl went to rest on her head. “Don’t worry, Miss Vivian.” Hala stated. “You didn’t...you know.” Vivian nodded and watched as Hau picked up the cat. Dia meowed gently. He sighed. “That is a good first battle.” Hala stated. “I was just going to bring them home, Hau, why don’t you head down to the Poke-center?” Hau nodded, and beamed. “Nice to meet the both of you!” Vivian and Emyr bowed. “Nice to meet you too..” Vivian muttered. Hau ran ahead, Dia screeching in hand.

She rubbed her cheeks with a guilty look. “I’m sure you didn’t mean too.” Emyr said, holding her hand. Howl chirped softly, and sneezed. Annie was being held by his other arm, and was asleep. The other creatures scampered around, hyper. “You two will learn how battling works, just like my grandson.” Hala stated, walking ahead of them. “Hau’s your grandson?”

Emyr asked. “Yes.” Hala responded. “Always wanted to be a trainer, not until he was 15.” Vivian blinked, noticing that Emyr was 2 years older than Hau, and she was at least a year older than Hau. Lillie looked away, eyes momentarily glowing a purple color. Hala, Emyr, and Vivian to talk as they all make it down. With saying their goodbyes, they went into the house. Hala and Lillie went their separate ways.

Kukui’s cousin beamed, seeing the two new Pokemon. “I’m sorry.” Emyr said sheepishly. “Is it okay if we head off to bed?” she nodded. “Alright.” She responded. The Meowth ran after Patterson. Vivian yawned and held Howl. “He’s a little stuffed toy!” She giggled, and went into their shared room. The creatures followed behind.

For them, it became a good night.

Kukui’s lab

Kukui straightened. He stood, back turned from the door in the basement. Of course, the door was locked. The white coat and white cap was strewn on the ground, along with smashed beakers and glass. He slipped off the green rimmed glasses. He slipped on red rimmed ones. Walking slowly to his closet, and opened it slowly. Inside, a black coat and cap sat, along with many other white coats. He slipped them on, and fastened his cap. Turning to smile devilishly, and red eyes flashing in the darkness. “I forget, Kukui.” He spoke to himself as he strapped on his belt. “Why did you ever get black clothes for me?~ We are the same person, you know.” He laughed darkly.  He walked away, toward the door.

“Let’s see what we can do tonight…”
Emyr denies his first battle. Vivian takes his place, but ends up in a tie. She doesn't know how to feel about battling anymore. Will their journey be a superb one? Or, will be in uncertainty?
What's wrong with Kukui?
